Since most of the time the records are not on the 0% pitch and most clubs don't use digital turnables with the automatic pitch adjustment thing, most trance records will be slightly off-key, right? Can people with perfect pitch hear that? Do those people, especially if they are musicians, get bothered by all the music being slightly off-key?

my guess is that since the ENTIRE record, beats, vocals, this that are all off pitch it doesnt bother people. since the pitches are still the same difference away. if you had all diff parts of the song at different pitches i bet that would get annoying.

but i dont have an expert ear. in fact i dont think i can hear very well at all -- too much music =)

hmmmmm... i am a musician.. i play several .. pitched and non- pitched intruments.. so perfect pitch is something that comes natural to me. Sometimes i can tell whether something is in the wrong pitch .. and sometimes i cant. I agree with dazzed a little because if the track as a whole isnt in the right pitch then it would be kinda hard to tell .. unless u know the track by heart or have heard it before. Thank god some clubs and djs come equipted with this wonderful thing called a pitch bender so it helps to match some pitches together.

sometimes music sounds better pitched up too...I don't think it really matters as in the individual sound but the set as a whole...pitching it up gives it a bit of a different "feel", y'know?

When the music is blasting at 120dB+, I don't think that many people will be sitting there analyzing if the record is slightly off-pitch. LOL
Seriously, when people talk about things being off-pitch then they usually mean the relative pitch to other parts of the same song. Since when you increase the track's pitch all the elements of the song are changed so it isn't that easy to tell if it has been changed or not (except if there's chipmunked vocals) ... unless, like raverchickadee said, you know the track by heart.

hehe nothing like listening to a tune for a year and then hearing it at a club and realizing the vocals are actually a guy ;p

no im not bothered at all.
usually ONLY if the track's playing too slow, which you can tell cuz its in a lower key (like half a note down), or vice versa.


but i mean if you're talking about the diff between playing a track at 130 or 132 bpm, no

you can NOTICE it but its not a problem at all, because no music on the radio is in tune (e.g. pop, everything except true instrumentals)

ya i would have to say that i am not bothered by the pitch that much ... unless its a drastic change such as in voice or speed. Oh man bug_bite ... thats the worse...lol. I find that theres one track inparticular that i hear out of pitch all the time . which is : System F- Cry.. doesnt matter which remix. no one can ever get it at the right speed.. she either sounds like a man... or a man with no balls

ive never experienced that problem with that track. what used to bother me was that dj remy - pumped up seemed to be pitched pretty high for its low speed, so if you pitched to the max it was still (not that slow) and a really high sounding track. uh... ya..

And when changing the pitch during a song, it's always easier, more agreeable to the ear or even less noticeable when you raise the pitch as opposed to lowering the pitch. For some reason, when you lower the pitch during a song, it can be very noticable, therefore you have to do that much more gradually than raising the pitch.
