A Call for CDR's

A Call for CDR's...

Hello everybody. It looks like i might be be spinning in the Toronto area a little more regularily in the next few months. I am a viynl DJ but i have recently added Final scratch to my equipment list. I am interested in any production work anyone has done - I want to compile a bunch of tracks that most other DJ's in the area arn't usually playing.

I would normally download your mp3's posted here but I am interested in obtaining higher quality versions of these tracks.

PM me if you have something you've be willing to send me (I have an FTP you can upload raw wav files to so we don;t need to fuck around with shipping costs).

Thanks

Most of the tracks posted here are 192k/s. I'm sure that should be high enough quality...

I know that most people use 192 but I really would like non-mp3's. You always lose something in the MP3 compression even at high quality. I know I can sometimes here the 192 with tracks with a lot of high end stuff. If i have to use 192 mp3's i will but I would like the better quality. I'm sure there are people here who would agreee with me.

In the end I will use viynl if i can but this is the next best thing for tracks that arn;t on 12".

I mean its up to you guys at the producers . If you want to pass me stuff great, if not, i understand.

The difference between 192 and wav on a club PA system is almost nonexistant.

I strongly disagree. An mp3 will always remove portions of the audio, thats how it achieves the compression that it does. It uses an algorithm similar to that of a cell phone. It removes sections of the audio that most people cannot hear. Having said that, there are people who can hear it. It has nothing to do with having a trained ear but rather just the way their hearing is wired in their head.

Myself, I cannot hear it with most tracks, especially drummy progressive, but with trance tracks that have alot of high end, I can hear it. I know I'm not alone on this because I know people who say the same thing.

I always see that an mp3 in winamp goes higher in the freqs than a mastered wave file does. It's visible in the oscilloscope, where with a wav it stays a bit more from the high side of the freqs, mp3 goes all the way to the top. Is this a bug in winamp maybe or does the mp3 compression really add high end to a track?

Yes, mp3 compression does what you say.

However, in the case of 192, ONE NINETY TWO, kbps compression, the difference is almost nonexistant. I can tell you as a producer, someone who listens out for sound quality. People in a club are only going to notice 1/10 of what I and other producers do, and i myself don't notice enough of a difference.

Big DJ's drop mp3 cdr's all the time.

Anyways, im just trying to make it a little easier for you, to just download the mp3's here rather than get the wavs, but i mean its your perogative.

True. Just gotta ask if the difference is worth the trouble of having cd's shipped in the mail rather than downloading mp3's, cause no way am I sending a 90 mb wav file.
