Okay full review time:
Got to Boston about 10pm, drove around FOREVER trying to get to Avalon, I don't really know the city, and anyone who's been there can tell you how easy it is to get lost. Anyway found parking at about 10:30pm, $5, not bad. So got to Avalon shortly after we parked, there was a short line outside of guestlist entrance. Waited about 5-10 mins before we were in. Turns out there was no Lee's list, but they were cool about it and just sent me through to the ticket counter, had to pay $25, instead of reduced, but I was not worried about it. Coatcheck line was RIDICULOUS! Waited like a good 15 minutes just to hang up my damn coat! After that we went upstairs to the DJ booth to check things out, it was pretty low key. Debo was on the decks, I think it was Debo anyway, i don't know what he looks like. He was playing some great progressive and some darker house, it was enjoyable. Went downstairs and had some drinks at the left-side bar waiting for Oakey to come on. Drink prices are a bit ridiculous, $7 for a rum&coke and $10 for a KMX&Vodka, but I guess thats to be expected in a club, and in Boston. About 11:55 Oakey comes on.
Oakenfold: 7/10 for the night. Opened strong, had this great low-low-low rolling bassline opener track thing that was very cool, got the energy level cranked immediately. He started off with some good progressive tracks and worked into one breaks track, i thought he would've ended up playing a lot of breaks tracks but he didnt! My highlight of the night came about half way through when he drops Amoeba Assassin - Piledriver (grayed-out remix). I had the biggest smile on my face and shivers running down my spine, its like one of my alltime favorite tracks and to hear it on a big system was incredible.
Oakenfold mixing: 7/10 for the night. Mostly solid mixing, there were a few noticeable mis-matches, but it never got to train-wreck. There were a few wierd mix-outs, especially into the benny bennassi tracks, and ATRC.
Oakenfold track selection: 7/10 for the night. Played some great older stuff, some older stuff with hot remixes, and even some great trance. But he also played two commercial as hell Benny Bennassi tracks BACK TO BACK. And even had the balls to play the sweeping strings mix of ATRC, the most played-out track of the year. So those 3 tracks account for the 7/10. His programming was pretty good, a few wierd mixouts or late mix-ins lost the energy, but we got it back.
Avalon 6/10 for the night. Not a bad line, staff was easy to deal with all night so no complaints there. Coat check sucked, it took 15 minutes to get my coat in and 40 minutes to get my coat out! Sound system was bordering on horrible. The low end was incredible, so that was great. But there were seemingly NO mids, and the highs were so loud and shrill that I will have ringing in my ears for weeks. Maybe it was because Paul was cranking the levels, maybe the sound system just sucks, who knows. Dance floor was really packed for a tuesday, i guess Oakey always draws a crowd. There were a bunch of people bumping into me, so it took half the night to build a little dancing area for myself. Not to mention all the couples who were grinding, how the hell do you grind at 135bpm? It was a mess, and then everyone started making out around me, honestly if you just want to stand around and make out, get off the dance floor. Whoevers idea it was to drop napkins from the ceiling, that was stupid! They just got smashed up all over the ground and stuck to your shoes so you were dancing with chunks of napkins attached to your sole, it was annoying.
The night ended at 1:55 and despite yelling for like 10 minutes Oakey would not play an encore. Probably was not his decision i think the club wouldnt let him go, I guess Boston is strict about the 2am thing. So we started to work our way out and waited 40 mins in the coat check line. Got back home here in NH around 4am.

Last note, it was good to finally meet Lee (sandstorm03) the only TA I knew was going. I was out on the floor and turned around and he just happened to be standing right next to me, so I didn't spend any time searching.
