Most religious fanatics are just that....fanatics. You cant judge a religion on how it is practiced by other people, you just need to do what is right. Most religions are in agreement anyways with the same basic rules applying overall; its the people who get caught up in the story and not the message who turn religion into a field of blood on which to fight their battles...

please please please don't think that what that person was saying was "real" christianity. sure, some of the stuff on tv and radio is not exactly the best for people, but the thing's they were suggesting were just way too extreme and implausible and somewhat scary. i hate seeing threads turned into religious debates, but i just didn't want you to think this is what real christianity is. Christianity is about working on your own self, and going from there, not about banning everything that could be remotely bad for anyone just so the world can be all hugs and rainbows. some people just take things too far and form the stereotypes that give christianity a bad name. |
i'm sorry, but have you read the bible, or are you one of those select few who believe in Christ as your savior but don't use the bible, which to me makes no sense. (they have nothing to base their belief on.)
of course, an Ouiji board is not of satan, but sexual themes on MTV would be grounds of damnation to a true christian. although your sins would be forgiven, if you wanted to try and live a holy life, it would be something to avoid.

sorry i deleted that post because after i posted i saw there were much better replies and mine just came off as over the top.
anyways, i do read my bible, quite a bit actually. i wasn't saying that you shouldn't try to avoid that kind of thing(watching certain mtv shows and the like), i was just saying how ridiculous it was to expect the government to ban everything you don't like just because your religion doesn't agree with it. you will find disagreeable things in your life, and you have to deal with it on your own, not just ask for it to be politely put away so you can get on with your happy little life in the clouds. i think that's what you were getting at, if not please elaborate.
