The EM was never any good for trance, it's just that back in the day a large amount of the regulars (Oakey, Tong, Cox, Fontaine etc.) played trance records in their sets. That's not the case anymore, and R1 has also gotten a lot of heat for not bringing in enuff new talent, so they've decided to do something about that. I know PvD is having an EM in a week or so, but if you're looking for trance live shows I suggest you look somewhere else, since even the odd bigshot trance DJ-EM is rare nowadays.

Armin's was probably the most boring EM I heard in 2003. Check out the Gabriel and Dresden, Ashley Caselle, Moshic, Sander K, Adam Freeland, DJ Marky, High Contrast EMs from this year.

all those artist you pointed out there are boring to me. So clearly that`s just a personal opinion. I find those set to stale and slow for my tastes
