Worm Popper I didn't see any review threads for Cosmic Gate and Pulse, so....

I thought the crew there handled the intrusion by the Boys in Blue rather nicely.

I was caught by surprise, but played it cool.

Oh, yeah, I don't know if I would go back to mini-Viva unless there was a stellar headliner like last night AND there were two different rooms of music.

The couch area upstairs reminded me of the bar area at Viva. Go home and listen to music people. Some of us are there to dance, and to babble our asses off.

Shout outs later, but Schryer, I'll PM you now for that CD.

"What goes around comes around."

Im pissed and IMO rightfully so

Heres how GL for that club works
-you have to be asian.

Never mind the fact that the agent has me on his guest list, that doesnt matter. If I had yellow skin, I could have walked in.*no this is not a generalization, after waiting outside for 2 hours, I think Im a fair judge of how it worked*

so I never got in, and I know how to check txt messages now (thanks nat) Im not crused, Ive seen them twice before, but I wanted to have fun. And getting raided by the cops would have been fun.
one bouncer was a dick to me, the other really nice.*his reasoning was that, you dont stand outside for 2 hours, if you dont feel you have been wronged*

anyways...Im pissed because I could have been studying, but instead didnt even get to party.
we want pics Nat!

I thought Cosmic Gate played a "pretty good" set, I think it was worth the coin. Some equipment problems (at the start). "Commerical" for some of the tunes is a good call (hopefully I dont turn into some sort of snob). A great sound system. Glad I brought ear plugs. I don't think they played as hard in some spots as I would have liked. There were a lot other factors that could have made this a better night (plp already kicked the cat on some of that stuff). I don't think I'll engage in the Pulse experience anytime soon.

Let's just put it this way... If they didn't have Cosmic Gate on at 2 I would not have stayed there till then.

I got there around 11pm and after a little trouble with the guestlist My girl and I managed to get in. The owner of the place is actually one of the nicest club owners I had the pleasure of meeting.

I found that two of the security guards were absolute dicks but the rest were very nice and helpful.

The ventilation in the place seems OK, which is a plus if the club ever becomes packed, unlike last night.

I seemed to have been attracted to the downstairs room more than I was to the upstairs. Mainly because whoever was in charge of the smoke machine upstairs, kept flooding the room with smoke. It was almost unbearable, specially if you were standing in front of the DJ booth. The sound system needs to be turned down just a little bit (I never thought I would actually say that) the music was getting too distorted in the upstairs room. For my taste anyway.

Cosmic Gate I though spun an ok set. The track, which really made my night, was the 2003 remix of Lost Tribe’s Gamemaster. The original is my absolute favorite trance tune of all time. Hearing it remixed just made the whole night worth-while.

An over all review of the club is 3 out of 5 stars. I found the place a bit too dark (due to the smoke) and the music a bit too loud. Some of the Bar-tenders were gorgeous cuties though.

I guess this is the review thread for Cosmic Gate then.....

I don't understand why you guys are so picky about a decent nightclub. It may be mini-viva, that makes sense, but you won't find any under 19 kids there, so it's all kewl!....to be honest....I've noticed those parties get packed even easier.. and packed parties suck, as I'm sure we all agree.

The place:
Very nice light system, except some more lasers and less DAMN SMOKE would be a plus. The decor is ok, but that doesn't always need to be there (if any1 noticed the tiny lounge room on the south-east end of the upper-floor... it had a trippy starry night effect above some ceiling-hung sheets... I chilled in there whenever I needed a break). The DJ booth is nice and close to the crowd, so you can actually shake the DJs hand for a job well done, which Cosmic Gate deserve.
Very nice bartenders, and the security in the club was a kewl crew of ppl as well.
I think I should mention.. I got in quite quickly around midnight when I got there, since I had a ticketmaster ticket. The dodgy thing was that I e-mailed and was confirmed on guestlist for "line bypass" but apparently that was bullshit, oh well... we all learned for next time.

The Cosmic Gate:
They openned up the cosmic gate for us human beings to have a mental atmosphere for firewires that melt to the ocean, in a timeless manner (wow, I'm so creative with tracknames! heheh). They played an awesome set and it kept me on the floor 90% of the night. I don't remember the tracklist well enough, but I simply died when they dropped RVDB - Timeless and Exploration of Space and Melt to the Ocean, and a Matt Darrey track, which title I forget, but it all rocked.

Final Notes:
I was glad to find the TA crowd in good force last nite... I thought I remembered tatgirl from when Picotto/Vath were at KoolHaus. So I jumped into a few photos.... when are they gonna be up???
It was great actually have met and spoken a few words with newly-met TAs.. You know who you are if you met me, I'm sorry but I never am good with names, so maybe after a few more parties I'll keep track. But shoutouts regardless to you all.

I want to mention, based on your complaints about the night and the set played.... keep in mind.... how many clubs in TO actually play trance like this?....not many... so enjoy it while it's here... Judging by how quickly the place emptied out when CG was done, doesn't look like ppl will come back for normal weekly nights, unless of course you just want a night of trance/techno, which IMHO, it just GREAT! I'm sure things will improve in Pulse as the months go on. As long as there's a supporting crowd, we have a place to hear trance/techno weekly in TO, which is somewhat of a rarity.

I'm done blabbling.. on a scale of 1..10.... 8/10. Best party for me since Dumonde @ Viva. And I base that usually on how much the act kept me on the dancefloor with good music.
