A bit of an odd request, but basically i want to learn to touch type, and can't be arsed sorting through the millions of pages google gives me
Seriously though, in short, has anyone ever had any expericence with touch typing tutors/programs, and if so, which one would you reccomend?
I'm looking for a decent one, something that's actually going to teach me how to touch type properly (As opposed to my two finger job at the moment), not a dogey freeware dos tutor or anything like that

i dont know what you mean by touch type, but are you trying to learn how to type with proper hand and finger positions? if so, there are typing classes that you can take. i cant remember what programs i used to learn typing, it was so long ago i started typing on one of those gay pieces of mac computers and then some cartoony dos programs on the pc.

haha, yes, typing with the correct finger formation. right now i use two or three fingers, which really doesn't cut it. I'd rather get a program that teaches you than sign up for a class, much easier.
Ah well, I resorted to searching every freeware site I oculd find and downloading a million tutori programs, so hopefully I will find one that works ok
Still, a reccomendation wouldn't go astray.

its easy pal.
depends on how much u type though really, i used to type loads putting cheats into WCII cos there was no copy n paste from Win to DOS, hehe!!
u just pick it up really the more u type the more u memorise where each key is, like now its dark in my room bar light from this n i dont gota look at screen to type, its easy once u get the hang of it u just need practice!
although if ur desperate get mavis beacon :P or look on download.com n search for typing tutorials or similiar stuff.
Good luck in managing to type while ogling pornography!
mwahahah

haha, the thing is, i can do it in the dark etc, and i can type resonably fast, but three or four finders is limiting when i could be using eight.
I ended up 'aquiring' a couple of programs, and there seems to be one that should do the trick.
If only I could get my fucking msn to work properly

If you want to learn how to type properly, you will have to take it slow first.
Okay, put your left hand on the left side of the keyboard with your first finger on "F", there should be a little bump on it, kinda helpful for blind people or typing in the dark
Next, put your right hand on the right side of the keyboard with your first finger on the "J" key.
Now try typing stuff and hitting keys with the fingers that are closest to the key and look at the keyboard while you are doing this. Try to gradually increase your speed as you become more comfortable with where the keys are and which fingers go to which key
Now next. Do the same thing, dont look at the keyboard and type stuff slowly and gradually pick up speed.
I hope this helps. That is basically what the programs taught me.

I managed to type without having to watch the keys through the years(hmm..that reminds me of a track:P). It's now about 10 years that I've been using PCs and anything that might have a keyboard on and I gradually became capable of touch typing. You just get used to the position of the keys.

its just practise man, i hardly every look at the keyboard and im sure my fingers aint in the right place and my hands move about all the time but i reakon the effort of relearning how to type outweights the actual new skillz i will probably not aquire
