Which tables?!?!?!

Hello everyone, I am about to do it....invest in my first set of tables!! I have a dilemma though, there are many who say my first set should be technics, because of their quality and I'll "never have to upgrade" since I will already have "the nicest tables." On the contrary, there are those who say my first set should be something a bit less expensive just to give me something to learn on and play around with. What have been all of your experiences?? I have no idea of the difference between inexpensive tables and expensive tables. Are the cheap tables known to scratch vinyls??? Do they have worse output?? (I have no idea) What should I do as a dj in training? Thanks guys!!!

Listen to everyone when they say "TECHNICS", trust me.

I bought some Stantons because i couldn't afford Techs at the time, and i've had too many problems like noise distortion, pitch slider screw ups and many other problems also the longevity of Stantons is shit.

get Technics, that's it.

People don't recommend it for fun.

if you can afford techs, get 'em. the first pair i bought used and still have them. tech12s also retain their value and are easier to sell. how much are you willing to spend? what kinda mixer you looking at?

I'm not sure what kind of money to spend, and I'm not sure what mixer to get, what do you guys recommend? Numark??

I would think for a set of technics tables w/o a mixer is around $900, am I right?

Well, like everyone has said: Get the Techs. I started with 2 Gemini SA-600, and although they worked pretty good, I have recently bought two SL-1200's.

The point with Technics is that if you don't like mixing, or want some other decks, you can get quite a lot of money back for them.

If you buy some $200 'Brand-X' turntables, they won't be worth a lot after 2 years.

But if you buy Technics, you can sell them for $300 - $400 bucks each after 3 or maybe even 5 years.

So I'm gonna say something very original now: GET TECHNICS!

Why would you want to buy techs on ebay when you can't even determine for yourself if they have problems? If you're gonna buy used and since you're in LA, check out www.recycler.com and maybe www.latimes.com in the classifieds...that way you can meet with the seller locally and check them out for yourself.

I say you should buy them new and ensure that you get the warranty, just in case anything goes wrong. If anything goes wrong with used tables, more likely than not the warranty is expired or never had one to begin with (buying from non-authorized resellers).

i agree with the comments about technics keeping their value, but i have to say Numark TTx1's are hot, and their even bringing out cheap versions called TT5's which wil be everything TTx1's were just without the digital bits. Blah, these guys probably know better than me so don't listen to me
