photoshop help on fading effects

you've seen the leage of x gents movie poster right? well i want to do that kind of effects on photoshop 7. that fading from one body to another. how do you do that?

i aint seen the poster but you will probably need to paste each one as a new layer then use the eraser on whateevr size of blend you need and make it 0% hardenss then erase up the sides and move the images together. but hard to describe what i mean.
