The party was great. I had alot of fun.
My set isn't one to brag about. I did OK. I just have to get more time on those Techs so I can figure out how they work. Also, the fact that the mixer only had one knob left on the channel faders, the crossfader was broken, the effects knob was missing, the bass controls on the mixer didn't work, one of the tables had the knob for the pitch fader missing, there were two different types of needles on the decks, the contacts in the tone arms were worn causing the L or R channel to cut out at times in the middle of a record, horrible feedback and knowing that I was only going to get an hour on the decks instead of two and not going to get paid a dime when I was told differently. All of this contributed to a so so set. I definately dropped some great tunes, but I spent so much time fighting with the tables that my mixes weren't the smoothest of the night.
Anyway, I still had a great time!! The after-party was phat. All the Djs at the party took turns on the decks, which were almost identical to the Techs, so I was not a happy camper . I meet alot of new people and made some great contacts at both the Globe and the after-party. Hopefully some more gigs will come out of it for me.
My demos didn't last very long, which is great. I passed out about 12 of them at the Globe and the other 10 or 12 disappeared quickly once I got to the after-party. Hell, I even had one guy ask me to autograph his copy!! .
All in all, it was another good night of partying. I got nothing but good comments on my sets at the Globe and the after-party, even though I felt differently about the way they went. Speaking of that, I don't know why, but while I was spinning, even though I was strugling, I had people constantly coming up to the both wanting to meet me, shake my hand and tell me how much they liked my stuff. I was kind of confused cause I thought BrandonC threw down alot better set than I did, as far as the technical side of things, and I saw maybe one person up by the booth while he was on. I had people out on the dance floor giving me the thumbs up. I just thought it was odd. I can't wait to see how people react to me when I throw down a set like I know I can. Maybe next time they'll let me bring my Gemini's .
Now I have to recover since I didn't sleep at all last night or today. I've got a few options for New Year's and it's looking pretty likely that I will be spinning somewhere.
