does anyone know if they are the same as UK sizes, i want to order a jacket from japan, but can't be arsed sending it back if it dont fit

the reason i'm asking is when i went to hong kong, i had to buy an extra large jacket to fit me, when I'm usually a medium. The website doesn't have an enquiry email thingy
