well, dnb isn't just dnb.
there's atmospheric dnb, jump up dnb, etc... and then there's the whole other genre of jungle which some people say is the same as dnb..
personally, i'm in love with atmospheric dnb - it makes me drool. housy dnb & jungle are a little mind-numbing and i'm gonna take a guess and say that that's what you tried to listen to - it's really hard on your ears.
stuff like jamie myerson, ltj bukem, artemis is what i enjoy. also paul b sometimes, but his mixes are very dark & evil, so not to everyone's tastes.
and taste IS subjective, like you say "I know Trance rules and no other music can even come close" - i completely disagree, but i understand that it's all opinions and taste and as a fact trance isn't any better or worse than other electronica genres.
like Strike said, don't force yourself. it's good that you're wondering if there's anything you're missing out because others like the genre, then there must be something to like, but maybe it's just not for you. listen to what pleases you.

I can't seem to get into DnB either. I saw Goldie live, and the hype man drove me insane and pretty much wrecked the night. I also saw Dieselboy live, and while he is good on the decks the tunes just didn't do a lot for me. I wouldn't advise you to force yourself to like the music, rather I would try to pull out of the tunes what you like out of it. I personally like DnB tracks that are more melodic and use tempo changes. I would recommend listening to a compilation that Mixmag made called "Trance N Bass". It's a fairly solid collection of tunes that incorprate more synths and breakdowns in a traditional DnB format.
