Who has more top quality producers trance or progressive.

I am not asking this question as into regard of which is better, but in the regard of who has the most good producers between the two. I say this because it seems to me like progressive djs have more variety and more tracks in which people haven't heard to choose from. In my opinion you dont see the repetitve tracklists u see in the uplifting world. Im just wondering which one of the genres has more producers who produce good tracks to choose from. Once again not saying one genre is better than the other, just wondering which one has the most producers to choose from. It jus seems like uplifting has a more limited base in which to get its music from. I hope I worded this thread correctly to where you guys understand what Im saying.

I guess progressive... cause every track is diffent...
many trance tracks has almost the same melody etc... also, there are more underground producers in progressive than in trance scene I think

I'd say Progressive has a lot more people with a lot more skill than trance.

I hope there won't be stupid flame wars here because of this thread...

as a producer for me it's much easier to crate a trance track that has a good melody then to make a good solid prog tune.

Infect, most of the producers who know notes nad playing the piano can do a melody in no time and trance melodies are nothing like symphonys...

Anyway today, mostly what I see is producers uses VST and just presets that they have w/o even messing with the sound - they don't pull much affort and it kinda sad but nothing do to... when you get into the producing you understand that it's not what u thought it was...

anyway I don't see any trance producer that comes into the level of james holden's sound work, what he does in tracks is just superb.
I think IMO that prog has more quality and its more creative now,
but one day it could be boring for me also...I still don't love all prog (I dislike howells) but that's my opinion if you agree or not..

Cheers,

/m0sh

i have to kinda agree with what has been said before...a lot of prog bores me, but when its done right...its great.

i think the reason that perhaps we are kinda recognizing prog for difficulty in production is because one...a lot of trance tunes are very similar, but also prog tracks when down right seem to be pretty complex in form...

i still like trance a lot, just i like the really great tracks out there instead of every cookie cutter track that comes out...

When I shop for vinyl, I must sort through A LOT more shit trance records than I do prog.

It seems harder to find amazing, fairly unique trance tracks and there is a lot of cheese (though most of 2003 had a lot of great trance tracks being produced). The problem w/prog is there is just so much low-energy stuff in the genre – too dark & deep. I dig both genres…though great trance edges out great prog for me due to the intensity.

This is exactly what I didnt want to get into on this thread, my point is I do think there are a lot of "cookie cutter" trance tracks and trance djs have a harder time putting together a unique set because there is to little quality to go around I believe. Where as in progressive I think they have it a little easier.

There are much more talents in the progressive scene than in the melodic/mainstream scene. The progressive scene is where you find progression, of course, and innovation. It is probably the most artistic music style, imo. It is the sound of human evolution.
