ISA and, I think, AMR? The latter didn't take off too well, though.
It's not the interface specifically that's the problem, though. It's the modem itself. There's nothing inherently wrong with PCI, it's the way the modem are designed that's the issue.
I suggest going to freshmeat.net or any other linux driver site and searching for "modem" - that should give you a pretty good idea what works. To the best of my knowledge, Lucent, Conexant, and 3Com make the most widely supported devices. But I haven't used modems and linux at the same time in a long time, so I'm not positive.
