What do you guys think...

Either Pentium 4 2.6 or AMD equivalent (probably 3200 xp- but i have to look into more on compatability issues)

M-Audio Revolutions Sound card
512 MB DDR Ram
Oxygen Keyboard

I will be using FL Studio 4, Cool Edit and Acid Pro.

Is Oxygen compatible with Fruity?
Is AMD compatible with M-Audio?
How is the Oxygen? Is it a trigger only?
And y r 'monitors' so preferrable?? Y not just get good speakers for computers?

N E other suggestions....anything would be good...tx in advance!

You might want a decent VST instrument as well so that you can get some nice leads and pads. Pro-53 is quite nice, a lot of people use z3ta+ also. There are quite a few nice ones out there, so have a look in the VST instrument thread to get an idea of your options.

Your setup looks fine except for the sound card. Try one of their pro-audio cards rather than the consumer cards.

Mate, the oxygen is not a synth. It is just a midi controller. It does not make any sounds. All this particular device does is play other synths and controll some of their paramters if mapped to the other device. You need a synth to play this with. Fruity comes with some synths as default but you might/should consider purchasing some other synths that are of higher quality.

As for soundcards, the audiophile is a very common option among budding electronic musicians and you won't find too many compaints about it either. It will give you midi, RCA and digital audio, so you may want to consider that.

Double the RAM. You don't want to end up with a bottleneck effect, in this case having lots of calculating power yet not enough RAM. When editing audio (or video), the importance of memory should not be overlooked.
