A permanent Australian Trance/Prog. Radio Station

guys..

can this seriously be done here? i mean, i think we have the facilities, i think we have the knowledge and i definately think we have the audience to setup something like a Party 93.1 like they did in Florida, USA.

Is there any way to get this kind of thing started up, because i would raelly like to pursue this idea.

any takers, suggestions, Radio station people out there??

pm me or post reply

well not much chance of it happening in melbourne, a while back now 4 stations were in the running to recieve a permanent radio station licence , of which only two would actually get it.

One went to some student group, which is understandable.

THe other went to a Gay network <-------- WTF

Sad.

Arghh was Kiss the student network? Heh that's all i listen to now! They've actually started to get me into Aussie rap! But give me 6 hours of Armin anyday instead

Ok back to the topic:

It would be great to get another electronic radio station going, it would not only benifit the scene but also my ears when driving! But unfortunately i lack the knowledge to give you a resonable response on how to get one started or who to even speak to. Would supprot it all the way though.

Hiya! This is Pendulum from trancetribe.com
we may be looking at doing a new trance station online... maybe with the help of Cameron who runs Elemance Presents on Pulse Radio...

other that that... we at Trancetribe would love to assist in some way

Scott

i think u'll find australia is far too small for something such as a trance station to be commercially viable.

I was a volunteer back at WildFM in the very final days, and really, that station was doing as well as could ever be expected of a dance station. It was paying its own way, but not to the point to be able to afford a licence.

Nova paid like $150mill for a licence in sydney, and now theres only 1 fm licence left.... doubt it'd be dance.

Our/Your only hope would be when australia starts going with digital radio as it does not require a separate frequency within a set band to operate and therefore allows essentially unlimited stations and even allows existing stations to broadcast multiple streams

IE nova could have a pop stream, a rock stream and a dance stream. All 3 are nova, but they all have their own flavours.

It also allows for national broadcasts, so bigger dance labels such as ministry of sound etc... may be more interested in an involvement with a radio station and be able to justify offering more financial support.

But we're talking a ways into the future here.

We have a few people involved in dancee music radio on here, mabye they could offer some further enlightenment.

Wild FM was so good in Sydney!!!!!

That was what got me into dance music in the first place.

Damn those fat cats in parliament who gave out the licences!!!

Kiss FM certainly pushed my electronic interests back in the day, I also did work experience with them.

Was easily the best of the temp stations vying for that license, they had fuck loads of public & commercial support (IE. company sponsors) but the fuckin ABA gave out the licenses to bs stations. And Nova fuckin comes along and buys a licence and it's just another Fox Fm (2day fm for you sydneysiders) playing rnb, rap and pop.

Grrr.

Would support it, and would dj on it too, but unfortunately don't think it would happen soups, sorry. Kiss was trying for years to get it and got no-where, and they were going about it the right way. Radio stations are fucking hard to get in this country.

Please excuse my french webby

Dunno

its all a bit disappointing, especially considering
online radio stations are good for some, but not really
good enough to cut it for australians. most people just
dont have the connection to listen in.

i think its definately possible, i mean we have people
like Luke Chable, Mark James, Ivan Gough, etc etc. surely
someone of their expertise and popularity must float around
here somewhere. im dead set keen on doing whatever it takes
however i just have no idea what that exactly is

it is something this country needs. no doubt about it.
because all those uneducated people out there think that
trance is the dance shit they play on nova. these people
need some education and us fans need some real music.
and real live mixes on the radio.

keep the feedback coming, hopefully smoeone may see something.

The amount of cash required to get this up and running would be enormous! Are we talking about a national radio station, or localised in one or a few capital cities? In Sydney, there's only one more licence available (the radio spectrum is already 99% full), and DMG paid $150 million a couple of years back for the penultimate remaining licence to set up Nova969.

I don't know if the market is out there for a 100% dance station, or if so it would need to focus mainly on breaks and house, as they are the largest market segments....

Though if this does get off the ground, I would like to get involved

But that was just a dream, That was just a dream, But that was just a dream, Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream ,Just a dream, just a dream, Dream
