I used to produce trance but im now having a go at making electro based music. Iv got a quality electro base patch for the albino which i made if anyone wants that just pm me but i was wondering if anybody else had any electro patches for vst synths or suggestions of synths to get for making electro. Im having a bit of bother with the drums to if anybody has any suggestions of where to get some proper old skool drum samples. Need hihats really. Im sure there must be others like me due to all the electro going around at the moment and the new electro trance thing. Any suggestions or tips would be really appreciated.

Try getting the filter to cut in and out. Don't you have a virus? Use that. I found heaps of Kalavia kick samples lying somewhere around the web. They had soem funky retro kicks in them.

I was wondering if anybody knew how to make this lead synth sound(listen to sample here). Its from felix da housecat - silverscreen. I just cant get how to make, im to used to doing trance, it sounds really old skool, im sure iv heard something very similar coming out of a megadrive. Is there an envelope on the pitch or something? Please gimme some hints, thanks a lot. Iv got quadrasid by the way which i thought would be ideal for this synth but no manual so dont have a clue how to use it.

Yeah, use an LFO to modulate the low pass filter, but have like a TrigPhase on it or something so that it always starts the filter modulation at the same time, rather than having it move in any random direction. I have listened to lelectro in years, so I might be way off. I would have said have a slow LFO rather than a fast one as a fast one will just make the sound a little more full, rather than twisted.

Sounds quite harsh, like its got some distortion, ring modulation maybe? Sounds very much like a lead guitar. I reckon maybe run a dual saw waveform through a drive distortion plugin.

You could try fiddling with the Filter envelope to get the filter to decay away like it does there.

No worries mate. For a really good Drive Distortion, go for Antares Tube. They have a demo on there site, which is unrestricted, but only lasts for 10 days. Its a tube pre-amp distortion and stands a good shot at delivering the right sound for you. I've been using with a 303 and getting some sounds similar to what you posted.

Do you use fruity loops cheggy? I love the blood overdrive in that, its simple but always manage to get really good results with it.

Cubase. Wow. Yeah, just copied the fruity blood overdrive over to VST plugins. Dude, it sounds almost identical. Mate, you may have just saved me a couple hundred quid. Cheers Pal.

Actually, just A/B it. Not quite as full sounding as the Antares plug-in, but still very nice sounding.

No problem cheggy, have you had a go on the screamer distortion box on the new version of reason, thats pretty sweet aswell, its got loads of different types of distortion to.

Anyway i had a go at making that synth and cant do it at all, heres my effort but its shit and sounds nothing like it. Any suggestions? I did what cheggy advised, 2 sawtooths detuned with the filter envelope being used, i made it using the albino synth. Im still stuck anyway, really do need a descent electro style lead synth but dont have a clue how to make one.
