Digital Cable Question...

Does any company make SPDIF 2-pin to RCA cables?
I want to connect the coaxial digital output on my mixer to the my soundcard, but my only digital input is a 2-pin SPDIF connector. So I would need a 2-pin SPDIF to RCA cable

does anyone make this? couldnt find any on the web, although I found a 2-pin DIN to RCA connector. is 2-pin DIN the same as 2-pin SPDIF?

thanks

I doubt you'll be able to find a cable, but an adapter for that shouldn't be all that hard to find. Check around in electronics shops, MAYBE even radio shack if you're lucky.

i had this problem about 2 years ago. i was looking for the exact same thing. SPDIF (sony panasonic digital information format if i remember correctly) is totally digital, RCAs are analog. there is no cable that will do this, you must have a DA converter in there somewhere. DIN and SPDIF are two different things. when i was looking for it, the answer i got from everyone was it cant be done. it may be out there now, i would try any place that sells pro audio equip. you wont be able to find this at best buy or radio shack. please let me know if you find it, i would be interested to know if this can be done now. good luck.

Read DeleriuM2K's post carefully. He is looking for a coaxial digital to SPDIF converter. Coaxial digital also happens to use RCA connectors, as they are ideal for this application. They are not used exclusively for analog signals.

you are right DJTJ, i thought he was talking about the standard red and white audio RCAs. i forgot they had the digital ones as well. in that case, that cable should be pretty easy to find.

you can build an adapter yourself.. I'm assuming it's wire wrap posts on the soundboard, for an internal spdif connection?

positive to the center of the RCA, ground to the outside. get a RCA inline jack and wire it up.. then you can use a standard RCA cable.
