After sitting through what was quite an unispiring set from Warren, the Unify boys tore the roof off.

Big Ups!

well not according to this chin stroker.

Was this the kind of tool you referring to last night Albs?

Sean played an awesome opening set, had the crowd set up perfectly for Nick to take over.
Nick played alot deeper than I thought he would, not as much of a 'party' set as he usualy plays. Didn't notice anything that I thought may be new WOW material, he certainly didn't play Apollo. He dropped a couple of big crowd pleasers but overall he mostly played stuff that you can here every Sunday at Q. There was only one track which I wanted to know the name of, the rest was stuff that had been around a while.

While I thought that the Unify guys played cheese it went over with the crowd really well. I didn't stick around for the last 20 mins of their set time but whoever was playing first couldn't mix a drink. I was told it was Hayden but I may be wrong.

Charlie Zee played absolute nonsense as did the 5am guys. That wasn't trance it was Hard Trance and too much for a night headlined by someone like Nick Warren. I think that the 'progression' from house to prog to trance worked well but you could see the crowd leaving once Charlie Zee started. I did a headcount around 6am to find 40 people in the main room and I stopped counting at 100 in the front room when Chris Meehan was playing. He didn't finish until 8am, well after the supposed close of 7am.

I realise that there were alot of seperate crews behind the night but Chris should have played after Nick Warren, then had the Unify guys close. I still think that their mixing was poor and the music wasn't my cup of tea but it went over with the crowd and I couldn't see why you wouldn't end a night on that note.

Personally, I was a little dissappointed with the night. Only caught the last 10 minutes of Sean, so can't comment on him. Agreed with Jules in that Nick was pretty flat. Was expecting a more balearic prog set, but got a mish mash of uninspiring progressive and tooo much breaks!!!! Not the biggest fan of breakbeat, so it was a little hard to swallow. I'm pretty sure some of it was the new Way Out West stuff, as I've heard only 1 track on that is 4/4. He did however drop a groovy breaks version of Age of Love, which did grab my attention.

Unify boys were OK, as I thought their driving prog trance was more of the tempo the crowd was looking for. Couple of mistakes in the first half though. Agreed with Dr P that Charlie played rubbish. What do you expect from A Viper Dj (He does play Viper right?). Didn't stay for the close. Sorry Jules!!!

I had a great night, excellent set by Sean Quinn, then thought Nick played a really good set.....yeah there was more breaks tracks in it than last year, but that wasn't a bad thing as they were really good tunes...thought that the 5am guys finished the night off really well....some of the tunes were verging on the harder side, but is that necessarily a bad thing?.....Jules played Dirt Devils Music is Life, top tune but I'd reckon hard trance......not sure who played it but I reckon that Beautiful Things remix near the end was also on the harder end of the scale too....

Yeah, I thought Nick played an awesome set. Better than the one he played last year both in terms of track selection and set progression imho. Less party tunes, but good to see he's still milking Clocks.

I actually liked the idea of having trance on at the end of the night. Having non-stop prog all night (especially when all the DJs seem to be playing the same sort of prog - namely dark and breaksy) can leave you dead on your feet by the end of it, so bring on the uplifting I say. Only get to see the first 15 minutes of your set Jules + Albert (we were all buggered by this stage ), but the other guys certainly did alright.

Ah well, good night out for sure.
