Hej hop så var det ett nytt år!

Vi vill först börja med att tacka alla som delade 2003 med oss - och er som firade in det nya året med oss på GK. Ett galet år som avslutades med en galen fest - som vi tror många kommer minnas länge!

Efter en veckas uppehåll så är det dags för nya framfart på Weekender. Det nya året får en "smygstart" med Joshua Ryan från USA (mest känd för en av sina låtar "Pistolwhip") som tillsammans med Deep Nature och Dana Bergquist kommer att leverera tung elektronisk dansmusik.

Ett av våra nyårslöften är att inte sätta oss själva i något speciell fack eller gå efter genrer - utan snarare efter kvalitativ musik - oavsett vem som står bakom produktionen. Givetvis kommer det att innebära större och bättre artister men även talanger som inte har fått chansen genom kommersiell bevakning. Vi hoppas därför ni gör oss sällskap på en musikalisk resa samt ännu ett galet partyår.

Joshua Ryan’s versatility as a producer has led to a wide range of collaborations, from the new single 'Cold Feet' he’s recently produced together with Dave Ralph, to producing tracks with drum & bass producer Dieselboy for the ambitious projectHUMAN album, as well as remixes ranging from Mocean Worker’s ‘Into Thin Air’ to Tall Paul’s ‘Precious Heart’ single, not to mention his infamous bootleg remix of Coldplay…

Joshua decidedly places his music on the musical side of the arena, stating, "I create and play energetic progressive music, and I try to produce very intricate, very technical music with a quality song structure, serious drum work and subtle melodies... Music that moves you."

He certainly has been playing just that gracing the decks around the world from Gatecrasher, Passion & Slinky in UK to Velfarre & Code in Tokyo, Pacha in Buenos Aires, Spundae Los Angeles, San Francisco’s Release & Arc Space New York, turning up the heat all the way on dancefloors of the future...


UK-based Universal/Fullfill records will release Joshua Ryan’s critically acclaimed debut album 'By Design' early next year. The album features brand new single "Buldings inbetween" with a searing vocals from Harland, as well as "Blazer", co-produced by Joshua’s brother, & aired since MTV Video Music Awards on heavy rotation as part of MTV’s own advert, while being charted #1favourite by Nick Warren, Sasha & Hernan Cataneo.

“By Design” also features the James Holden remix of the smash hit single “Pistolwhip" which reached #29 spot in the UK pop charts in 2001- extremely rare for a purely instrumental song.

With his tunes hammered by everyone from John Digweed and Pete Tong to Paul Oakenfold, the New York producer has found himself on the cover on URB magazine and top of their ‘Next 100’ list, plus countless features in every major dance magazine from Ministry, Jockey Slut, Muzik, Mixer, XLR8R, etc.
