Where can you go in DC to hear good prog house and trance on Fri and Saturday? Cubik (Buzz) lineups are still mostly D&B and that scene is still building.

Any advice folks?

Just dont go out at all and let it all all build up cause the first night glows opens up it will be total kaos.

I agree. Personally I'm taking a couple month break from clubbing altogether until Glow re-opens. It will make it all the more special.
Besides which, there really IS nothing in DC atm. Cubik is starting to go downhill already, imo...and it's mainly cause the old farts at Buzz can't get with the times...ffs, they keep booking the same damn DJs they booked 5 years ago like Bad Boy Bill & Tall Paul, who are both terrible. The crowd is full of sketchwads and white-trash raver-wannabees...there's just nothing appealing about it for me these days. The only thing woth going to is Hybrid in a week, other than that there's not much I care about around this area.

cubik on friday, FIVE on saturday. FIVE is kinda small, but good for wat it offers.

I went to Club Five ,it was pretty Kool crowd and music. Have I deen you there. Last time I went there and some chick who could dance was owning the floor.I couldn't keep my eyes off her. Well I am curious NYGBlue ,have I met you yet .

I for one am super super glad that GLOW is moving venues out of Insomnia. That place just sucked the fun out of you. I remember being there for pvd and tiesto, and granted they are the top trance djs in the world, but it was so hot and muggy inside, that i was ready to leave after 30 mins of that hell. 30 mins!! Who the hell is ready to leave after 30 mins of hearing pvd???

It just wasn't right.

Thank gawd there leaving Insomnia.

I'm the events moderator on dungpow.com... so i try to keep thing posted.. i've been busy lately.. so things aren't updated monthly like before... i'm more on a week to week basis.. i try to add here what i think people might be interested in and won't criticize me for... i mainly try to post everything going on in the scene... dnb, house, trance, progressive... etc.

I also keep a list of all the guestlists.. as well as i know a few people who work at many of the different venues, So I try to put on all the events where you need to email or what you need to do to be guestlisted!!

I went to Andalu's & Five last saturday.. i had a blast.. if you think FIVE is small then you really don't want to go to Andalu's.. they are REALLY Small and they get packed.. the music was great last week.. if you want to hear what the DJ organizing it sounds like.. you can check him out at www.hookthecaptian.com

For the afterparty.. ben n mo's is trying a new thing called Phenix that starts after CuBIK...

FYI this week we have a DJ that spin's a nation's setting up and spinning in our basement for Friday's afterparty..we'll be going all day Sat. and then most peeps will be heading down to FIVE and Andalu's Sat. night.

From what I've heard, John Tab (Buzzlife's resident drum n bass DJ) is now handling the bookings for Cubik, instead of Scott Henry. That would explain why there are more drum n bass DJs in the main room in January. That also means no trance, techno, progressive or anything like that in the main room for the near future. I'm rather disappointed at how Cubik is looking right now.

I just can't put up with drum and bass in the main room every single Friday!
