Progression of a trance music listener
1. Somehow gets exposed to trance music, either at the club or through a friend. Likes one particular track and asks for more tracks like it.
2. Furiously searches for and then downloads trance songs, mostly cheese. Finds online community full of snobby veterans who makes fun of his newb tracks.
3. Newbie listens to the advice of the veterans and downloads better tracks. Starts to see beat patterns in trance and really enjoys the music for what it is. This stage is like a baby... pure and innocent.
4. Starts to share music with friends, and they make fun of the music because it all "sounds the same." He doesn't understand why people would be so closed minded and listen to the pop trash on MTV. Not by accident, his newer friends like trance too.
5. After some time, our trance listener becomes a veteran. He posts on forums making fun of newbies for their primitive tastes. He becomes upset when his favorite tracks become mainstream. Starts to call 90% of all music cheese.
6a. Starts listening to other genres and see's the light... posting on how trance is dead, how it's not the same, how tiesto sucks, etc. and how techno/house/progressive/tech-trance or jungle is the best kind of music in the world.
AND/OR
6b. Decides to become a DJ
7. Reaches a level of zen where he doesn't care about genres or what other people like. He listens to music for the emotions and states it puts him through.
