well i know you're posting this because you're probably tired of the same old trance; nothing THAT good and original happening lately.... i have the same exact problem.... so i tried experimenting and went into all kinds of music... but NOTHING compares to what everyone talks about.... Paul Oakenfold's Essential Mix 1999 World Tour.... you gotta get all the sets; i've been listening to them one by one and completely dying... such good stuff; feels like i'm at a rave when i listen to some of this stuff; very fresh and original to those who have started listening to trance 2000+....
Paul Oakenfold Essential Mix 1999 World Tour:
1999 - 01 - 17 Sydney
1999 - 02 - 21 Havana
1999 - 03 - 28 Miami
1999 - 04 - 25 Buenos Aires
1999 - 05 - 30 Homelands
1999 - 06 - 20 Gatecrasher
1999 - 07 - 25 Ibiza
1999 - 08 - 29 Creamfields
1999 - 09 - 26 China
1999 - 10 - 31 London
1999 - 11 - 28 Liverpool University
1999 - 12 - 31 Millenium Eve
just got all the sets off of hub...
also something that is VERY underrated:
Paul Oakenfold - Swordfish Album
(most people never even know about it...)
I mean its not the trance from nowadays; but if you kinda give it a try and try to accept it; you'll fall in love with 70% of the tunes and be like OMG ... i want the single; and you wont find it on hub or anythin cuz they're too old i love when that happens
also if you into prog... get a lot of songs... and if you can get yourself (try to find them; they're kinda rare) some sets by Yunus Guvenen you will die... HES VERY ORIGINAL.... one of the most original artists i've ever heard in my life; so many layers, his ch00ns are so complex.
thats about it for now; tiesto, pvd, j00f, and the rest of the top100 djs dont do it for me anymore.... markus schulz has some good sets once in a while; but stick with Paul Oakenfold's old stuff... theres a reason why people say oakenfold was amazing back in the day
if you're looking for somethin hard; but not too hard; kinda a mix of hardtrance and pieces of hardstyle/techno.... get some sets by Lady Dana... shes alright...
Once in a while i get bored with everything and turn to Happy Hardcore; look for Anabolic Frolic; the Happy 2B Hardcore albums; brisk & trixxy, dougal, phosphorus, dj silver, and others; you can learn to love it, some happy hardcore is really good; if you like vocals; go for that, some of it can get pretty cheezy; but will never compare to scooter
**lately armin, pvd, marco v, johan gielen, tiesto, the new oakenfold, judge jules, some of markus schulz, dont do it anymore; so i go diggin for old PVD, old oakenfold, some markus schulz does it for me, A LOT of new prog. sets (james holden, g-pal, sultan & tonedepth, etc etc), and yunus guvenen <<<- this man always delivers with originallity; i swear i can listen to one of his songs 100 times and still almost be at the point where i dont recognize it... ROFL... they're so random, original, not really structured the way you'd expect...
happy hunting and searching for original/classic-before-your-tranceaddiction ch00nz and sets; thats why many have chose prog; trance doesnt do it for some anymore. And if you do choose the path of the "progressive house" genre... thers a lot to listen to; i dont really get bored; james holden's "Balance 005"... also take a look at the Global Underground series (A lot of call Sasha's Global Underground #13 a classic)... it goes back pretty far... and the Nu Breed series covers a lot of good house/progressive house tracks as well....
I hope i can be at least of a little bit assistance; you probably know most of this info already Vlad
-yoor friend,
