is the E-MU XL-7 usable for making Progressive Trance as a stand-alone box without any other external gear or effects? Has someone of you already done something on that box?

I think so, it's a high-rated groovebox with loads of possibilities. Go ask a demo in your local store.. Later on you might need some extern synths but untill then you'll be set. Certainly usefull when you want to go live.
