Two weeks ago an Israeli court sentenced five refuseniks to a one-year prison term for refusing to serve in the military as long as it continued the Israeli occupation. Even though they volunteered to serve the military in other capacities (e.g. medical), the judges decreed that the five objectors merited stiff punishment for "question[ing] the morality of the military's actions and challeng[ing] the legitimacy of the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip."

For those inclined to do so, you can sign a petition supporting their release at www.refuz.org.il or send a fax to Brig. General Gil Regev, who has the authority to release them, at (972-3-569-2933).

there are consequences for breaking the law. i can not go rob a bank and state innocence becuase it is immoral to charge interest on my loan.

You could also refuse to serve in the US military if Bush were to put a draft through... and i would still support you. Thats if you opposed occupation of course.
