Worm Popper I’ve just had my first go with CUBASE!

Wow, I feel such an idiot.

In an attempt to get Reason and Absynth to work in tandem, I’ve had a crack at patching them into Cubase. I figured out how to get Reason to work on my own (which felt like a momentous triumph at the time), how hard can Cubase be? Very, apparently.

So far I have successfully managed to do nothing of value except make the metronome sound when I press play, and get reason to work with Cubase (in a sort of manner anyway). Adding VSTi synths has so far met with total and utter failure, as has obtaining the elusive goal of Reason/Absynth. For some reason all the installed VSTi’s I’ve got installed come up as FX in Cubase and not instruments.

Some how I don’t think I’ll figure this one out just by playing around with things ‘till it works. Part of me wants to ask everyone I can for help, the other part of me is determined not to insisting that I will figure it out if I preserver. Oh well, welcome back to n00bdom.

I was just about to suggest reading the F***ing manual The Cubase Manual is great (alll versions even), and once you read it you'll know pretty much everything you have to know about Cubase.

I must admit, the manuals for cubase are quite intimidating looking. The entire thing is like four hundred and eighty two thousand pages. The getting started manual was a godsend for me though. It gives you all you need to know to get started, then you can get peekin into the main book if you need further info on specific things.

Yeah, the “Getting Started” one was the on I hit first. Was 400 odd pages long though! But I just dived into the bit I thought I needed help with, and thankfully that sorted out my problem.

The Operations Manual is weighty tome of around 800 pages!

Now that I've got my head round it, I think I'm going to have fun with this!

I really like Steinberg's philosophy on manuals. I don't know about most of you, but I like to read 200 pages of text on a computer screen, there's something about scrolling through endless streams of text that just makes my eyes say "Thank You". [sarcasm]

It still bothers me till this day that Steinberg doesn't include an actual operation manual with their sequencers. If I'm going to spend five hundred quid, I'd like a damn manual.
