A 1-on-1 drinking debate with a referee that we must both agree on - I suggest dEsidEL, or if he's too sick of the debate, Az. Note to all the readers that this would be taking place *in person*.

I'll take the Israeli side and you take the Palestinian. Speeches/rebuttals last 1 minute each until we run out of alcohol or one person loses consciousness. The speaker must take a certain number of shots every time he says any of the the following words:

Speaker for the Israeli side:

Suicide bomber...........2 shots
Camp David...............1 shot
Hamas....................3 shots
Rabin....................1 shot
Jewish [+state]..........1 shot [+1]
Terrorist/terrorism......1 shot

Speaker for the Palestinian side:

Occupation...............2 shots
Collective punishment....3 shots
Human Rights.............1 shot
Zionist..................1 shot
Suffering/oppression.....2 shots
Invade/invaded...........6 shots
Settlement/settler.......2 shots
Sharon...................1 shot


Both speakers:

Intifada.................2 shots
Security fence...........1 shot
Peace....................2 shots
State-sponsored..........2 shots
Blood[shed]..............1 shot
Conquer/capture..........2 shots


The object of the game is, obviously, to make your point without using any of the above words. The first one to go unconscious has to stop posting on the Israel/Palestine conflict for two full weeks.

A short musical intermission may be taken after each round of both speakers; however, all music must be progressive. Trance will not be allowed as we do not wish to encourage fraternizing with the enemy.

(P.S. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, just trying to inject some humour into it, particularly since some people have gotten the impression that Cyrus and I would be at each other's throats in the real world. )

Heh, that depends on the debaters' tolerances, we want the game to last at least 10 minutes.

I've worked out another option for the total alcohol abstainers - it's not as fun, but it's got the same general idea. Contestants must sit down with a big bowl of extra-ripe jalapeño peppers and eat one whole pepper corresponding to each shot as listed in the table above. No other food or drinks may be kept at the debating table. The loser is the first person to run for the water, run for the bathroom, or fart.

What say you, anti-alcoholics?
