Reason 2.5 volume lower?

Hi there,

I got a problem. At least I don't know if it is a problem because: When I export my track from reason to wav, I hear (if I compare it to other media files) that the master volume is a big amount lower than normal.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I could solve this with a wave editor and pump up the master volume, but I don't know if this the right solution.

Now I was just reading some threads in the archive about reason and i found this thread.

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...t=export+reason

quote:
[..]....and it seems that it's because Reason only uses part of the waveform...[..]

Now the final questions are: Is it normal that the master volume is lower than other media files? If yes, is the wave editor solution the right solution? If no, what am i doing wrong!
And: Is the "use of parts of the waveform" causing the problem?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. sorry for the bad english + I'm quite noob in producing so leave my guts in one piece

Reason outputs with a 3 db overhead, so yes, it IS softer.

Normalizing, or bringing up the master volume, is perfectly fine.

It's basically been conclusively shown (to my satisfaction anyways) that Reason does not reduce sound quality, so simply upping the volume elsewhere should work nicely.

Cool

make sure the master volume is not clipping (preferably in the greens), when you export. then use soundforge will to normalise to 98% and then, master for 16-bit in the wave hammer, that should bring it as loud as you would want. also wave and mp3 waveforms look slightly different, especially on winamp so be careful of that

You really should check out Reasonstation. There are hot discussions whether REason reduces quality or not...Everyone should go there and build his own opinion.

The sound quality problem is only a part of the main problem: A not very good but cpu friendly way of wav playback and rendering.

As said before, the loudness problem can be solved by putting up volume in a a wave editor or send the signal via Rewire to Cubase / Logic / Nuendo and use plugins to compress the signal or increase loudness. Works fine
