anyone recommend a good percussion source (software preferably)?

I have been using Reason 2.5 for percussion, connected via rewire to a Sonar sequencer. I find the beat resolution and overall output (even when the beats are run through a compressor) to be the weak link. Anyone recommend a DXi or VST plugin or other solution for percussion trance and hard house productions? If not software, then what "beat boxes"? (if they're still call them that--I'm dating myself with that I bet
Thanks!
Baz

reason cant use VST's but there are plenty of other sequencing programs that do. I use buzz. It is becoming increasingly harder to use now that I run on XP on my system, but it is by far the best free virtual studio available.

i'll take a look at that. as far as VSTs or DXis I'd be running them through Sonar 3, leaving Reason out of the production mix all together.

yeah, leave reason behind. i look at it as more of a toy, for though i have made awesome stuff with it, it just isnt versatile enough.

I'll look into NI battery. Where do you get your drum samples from?

Your not the only one. The copy that was purchased for 300 bucks is just sitting there collecting dust. The lack of VSTi support really kills the whole experience for me.

And when I first purchased Fruityloops 3.0 2 years ago, the store clerk laughed, and made jokes about it saying that Reason was so much better. That store clerk would be floored the hear the stuff that I, and MANY TA's here have produced with that "toy". Cheers!
