Tiesto does. And he has proven from time to time that he can make those wild transitions work very well in the dancefloor.

He has also proven from time to time that his effort in set structuring (and mixing in general for that matter) has sunk to severely low levels, and this transition is an excellent example of just that. But you're right, mixing a 125 BPM progressive tune into a 140 BPM trance tune is exactly the kind of thing Tiesto does.

for me those kinds of mixes, when done with good taste, are the reason that set Tiesto's sets apart from the pack. but whatever, i won't debate about a transition that no one here has actually heard.

You're right that it sets him apart from the pack, I wouldn't be proud of it though

Gielen plays for 'his' ppl like those attending ta tho, he's popular amonsst them but that doesnt mean he's good, structuring is one of the most important things, and risking it by attempting to pull off crazy mixes can sometimes kill it imho

I'd say Gielen beatmatches better than what Tiesto has been doing lately in this set. Trackselection is another issue of course :/

beatmatching is the least of my worries when i talk about creativity and talent behind the decks. when i listen to mixing i'm concerned with musicality and taste, not much so about technique. you should know this by now.

that's right. i've had fun in quite a few parties with Gaylen behind the wheels. that doesn't mean i admire him as an artist.
