New voluntary guidelines to provide free or low-cost drinking water on licensed premises!
On 20 January 2004, the Victorian Government launched Voluntary Guidelines to provide free or low-cost drinking water on licensed premises.
The Guidelines were deemed necessary following concerns raised that a lack of available free or low cost water on some licensed premises was impacting on the health and welfare of patrons in Victoria. The guidelines outline the requirement of operators and owners of licensed premises to ensure:
•free or reasonably priced drinking water is readily accessible to patrons on any premises where liquor is sold or supplied.
•When free drinking water is not feasible the charge must be less than the lowest price at which any alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink is sold.
•Cold unadulterated water should be available in all bathroom and toilets at licensed venues.

that sounded like a great idea until i considered the clubs will just raise the prices of all drinks so that the bottled water is still the same price.. either that or they will up the admission price.

This law was introduced mid last year in Sydney. It hasn't changed much up here since, "reasonably priced drinking" is what everywhere sells.
I carry that law around in my wallet. I've pulled it out a few times, and every time the place says it's cheaper then spirts, so drink up.

well to get around the hot water issue
i learnt this trick at girlbar, generally if you ask for some ice in a glass they will give it to you.
Either say your tongue or some shit got pierced or someone is feeling sick, then add the warm coz generally it isnt hot water to the glass with ice.
By principle it sounds good, and you may have to wait for it to cool down but meh thats what we do. I did have a friend jump the bar once and steal the drinks, she only got caught when she was dancing on the podium with a whole bottle of midori HAHAHAH
