TONIGHT'S SPECIAL EVENT WILL BE FREE... NO COVER

I am extremely sorry to announce that due to circumstances the extend way beyond our control, DJ Q Bert will not be performing at System Soundbar tonight.

Empire Productions and System Soundbar recieved word late this afternoon that Q Bert's Canadian dates on his QFO tour have been pushed back until further notice. This coming 5 weeks after returning a signed contract, full deposit and flight share totally in the thousands of dollars. We have been attempting to contact the booking agent who exclusively handles Q Berts tour dates, but neither myself, nor the management at System Soundbar could reach her. We began to realise that Q Bert was not going to show after the 6th time her assistant told us he didn't know where to find Q Bert's itinerary for this portion of his tour. We still have yet to hear from Q Bert's agent.

This disappoints me more than you can imagine simply because we were the last promoters Q Bert played for when he came down for Empire's 4 Year Anniversary. On top of that, we paid him in full UPFRONT including all business class flights, etc. etc., in good faith to build a solid working relationship with Q Berts agent and management company. THERE IS NO WAY THAT EMPIRE PRODUCTIONS OR SYSTEM SOUNDBAR WOULD IN A MANNER ALLOW FOR THIS KIND OF INCOMPETANCE TO HAPPEN IF IT WAS WITHIN OUR CONTROL.

In any case THE PARTY MUST GO ON...

...so we have decided to make this night a FREE event with some added guests to help make this shitty situation take a turn for the better.

I too showed up to find out Qbert's North American tour was cancelled. I was super disappointed, Qbert would have brought the house down. But in the end M-Rock and Dopey both DMC world champs did some crazy shit and Capital J's set was pure bodness - his scratching at points was fucking madness.

Was hoping that I'd see more of the jungle inclined TA massive but i guess most of you got word before you went. Props go out to technoaddict whom i finally saw being the DJ whore that he is bopping his head front and centre to Capital J.

Man was a dissapointed to hear about Q's cancelling lastnight. Me and my bro drove 60 km only to find out he was a no show. Props to System for at least making up for it providing free cover, and cheap drinks. Couldnt really drink much since i drove, but did stick around to catch most of Capital J's sick ass set. The man is a scratching fiend, and his beat juggling techniques are off the HOOK. Nice to see AZ tearing up the dancefloor - nice chattin with ya, always a pleasure bro. Turned out to be a pretty good night afterall. Nice renovations done so far to System. Theyve turned the dj booth into another bar, put up two projection screens (with various camera angles of the dj in action along with special effects) on either side of the new temporary booth (which is located on the opposite side of the room) and a whole lot of other shit looks to be completed in the next month.

So where is the booth going to be permanently??

I personally think that's a shit spot for the booth. That area should be as open as possible - on crowded nights, it's like a fucking traffic jam supreme. (think: HAWTIN)

The booth will be infront of the back bar.. the VIP room walls have been torn down and will become a part of the main room.

I personally like the idea, i definately think change was needed at System and it looks like they are making all the right moves. One thing i noticed lastnight, THE WHOLE PLACE IS SURROUNDED BY BARS!!! The two side bars, the back bar, and now one where the dj booth used to be!. Opening up the VIP room to be part of the main room should make up for lack of space. Are they keeping the room at the back of the club ? Is this going to be considered the VIP room ?
