The good old credit card fraud...

Ahhh yes, it's finally happened... apparently, I wanted to buy a speed boat from some watercraft company in America without knowing it

It's such an annoyance, after going on a vinyl shopping spree yesterday - spent around $300 worth of vinyl on the net - I am now more aware of internet shopping. 2 out of the 3 vinyl sites that I shop @ were trustworthy without a doubt, the remaining 1 was IMO, the one that farked me up. Arrrgh, so I tried to buy a bottle of wine with the card today and it got declined - I rang up, found out what happened and cancelled the account straight away. It's such a hassle, has anyone been a victim to credit card frauds? What did the gronks try and buy with the card? hehe

My mums was used to buy Jewlerly (sP?) in Canada? And at my dads shop some guy bought 2.5g of Car and equipment with a fraudulent card. They sent in a lil kid to pick it up .

Be aware that you should straight away call your bank and tell them there's been fraudulant transactions on your credit card.

ISTR that the maximum amount you'll be liable for is around AU$50-$100, and the bank's liable for the rest.

Get a current statement, go through it and point out all the fraudulant transactions, and don't lie they tend to check up pretty closely on it all.

I do work for a bank, but not in credit card fraud, so my information isn't solid.

YMMV

hehe, quite an obvious one...

Juno Records
Chemical Records
Mute Records

$20AUS for a double vinyl (Dirty Sticky Floors 2 x 12" - I think that basically gives it away ) INCLUDING shipping... bargin indeed, what they don't tell you though is that you'll have to buy a speed boat worth US$4000 ! lol

I must stress that it's IMO... I have no solid evidence whatsoever...
But I have thought about it quite abit. I've been shopping on the Internet for years and I only shop @ trustworthy sites (being an IT-geek and all, I do know the score). Maybe the shop (price-wise) was too good to be true. Oh wells, tiz life for ya.

That sucks man. I almost got done over by a paypal scam going round -beware of dodgy looking emails! Well this one wasn't so dodgy - it looked pretty damn authentic.

But you gotta be wary.

All that said and done, buying on the net is no more dangerous than giving your CC out at a restaurant or purchasing something over the phone.

It just sucks when it does happen. That said, all costs should be covered by your banks fraud protection.
