Can't Afford CDJ1000s
I'm not gonna be making enough this summer to get 1000s, what would the next best thing be or is the next best thing utter crap?

I own a cdj1000 MK2, and I also own a cdj 800. The 800 is a better value IMO than the 1000. Some people like the Denons...personally I wasn't a fan of either. Also, I'd recommend Pioneer's CMX3000 dual cd player. I used to have oen of those and it worked perfectly. Basicaly teh same thing as a cdj 800, except there are two of them, and they don't really have a useful scratch mode.

I love the cmx-300, its def the best dualcd mixer out there right now. Solid, and hardcore.
The scratch features it ok, you could do a backspin, but not much turntablism stuff...
I love it.

yeah, true. I just remember there being a delay on the scratch, or something to that effect...it wasn't instantaneous when you touched the jog wheel.

Yea, that's probably because on the CDJ-1000's and CDJ-800's, scratching is actually a feature, rather than an effect like on the 3000 and the DMP-555.
If you're more concerned with the CDJ-1000's pitch resolution than the scratching availability, the CDJ-200 will have the same resolution (.02%), but won't have the scratching abilities, although a lot cheaper.

or if you wanna be cool, you can always go for one turntable and get SSL and use that on your pc. That way you can both learn how to mix on vinyl, and have the ability to use your cds and files at the same time.

I was in the same position as you are, and I bought the CDJ800's. I didn't regret it...

Myself and one of my mates are thinkin about getting CDJ pretty soon just to practice on so we can play CDs when we go out. The 800 is the logical choice as it's good value... but that 1000MK2 is oh so tempting. Still, we can't afford it really.
Anyone know anything about the CDJ200? When it'll come out, what features it has compared to the CDJ100, pics maybe?
