Buying a DVD burner

So yeah, I think I am going to buy a DVD burner. Any of you had experience with this one or think it's good?:

well..... i'm also thinking of buying a dvd burner..... so i'v kinda been looking around...

The one ur looking at seems pretty decent for the price...but why external??

if you go with internal, u'll get a faster dvd-rw for the price (DVD+R @ 8x)(DVD-R @ 4x) for around $118....

The Plextor 708-A has gotten alot of good reviews....

Also, take a look at the Lite-On 851S dvd burner.... same features at the plextor, expect its $60 cheaper....
and just as a side note... Sony uses Lite-On components for it's burners....

I want to use the external for several reasons:

1. I'm dumping this PC in a year because I'll be in uni then, so I want something I can easily transport.

2. I don't have room in my box to put another drive

3. Overall it's easier to install.

in my experience u cant go wrong with pioneer dvd-writers. not sure if they do external but i can highly recommend the A07/107. plus im sure u can make space for one in ur box seeing as u dont really need any other type of cd or dvd drive once u have one

don't get the lite on, it has a lot of reliability issues with their dvd burners.
Go for either the plextor or the pioneer, you can't go wrong with either of them two...
i'm currently using the pioneer a07 and all round its a great package

the media is too bloody expensive IMO. I'll wait till it doesn't cost like 2.00 a disc for something that is going to last more than a month.

20 cents per cd will get you pretty decent cds. Even the ones guarenteed for life don't cost more than like 50-60 cents.

two layer dvd-rs are just a dream. Will be too expensive even if they ever do exist.
