Land Mines

Lately here at TA threads are turning into land mines. One wrong word or phrase and the thread turns into a conflagration of flames and counter-flames. Most of us usually jump in and get reluctantly embroiled hoping to conciliate, but most of the time this proves futile.

A forum is a place where opinions are voiced and threads are ideally informative, edifying and constructive. It is easy to understand how they can sometimes turn nasty when dealing with so many passionate opinions.

My suggestion echoes LT's idea. Next time our opinions turn to hostility, might I suggest we PM each other instead of making our arguments public.

I believe this would A.) keep the thread informative, constructive and on topic, and B.) prevent others from becoming embroiled in the controversy.

This is just a humble suggestion. If anyone else has any other ideas feel free to voice them.

I totally agree, I think alot of it is that some people take comments to seriously, and take personal offense to them. Really, if someone makes fun of you on the internet, does it really affect your life?
But I think the reason it gets out of hand is a lack of moderation in the forums. Threads need to be locked.
