questions about exact audio copy

how do i make it read cd-text and name the ripped files after that or get the track names from freedb, so that i don't have to rename the files manually?!?!

i got some other question as well, but forgot what it was! gonna ask that later then!

In EAC: Press F12, enter an email address (it doesn't have to be valid, just make sure it contains an @ and a dot, i.e. [email protected]) and press the "Get active freeb server list"-button.

Put the audio cd you want to rip in the cd drive and click on "database", "get cd information from" and select "remote freeb" or "cd-text" (if your audio cd has the cd text feature).

yay! i finally remembered the other question i had! it's about the volume normalization thing! is it supposed to raise the volume level of the track when it's ripped, so that all the tracks i have ripped would be at about the same level as some cds are way too quiet! the peak level on some cds is like 50% and normally it would be 100% so it's kind of annoying listening to these tracks as you have to cranck up and down the volume all the time!
i have put the volume normalization thing on, but it doesn't do anything really! it says "normalizing" at some point, but i can't find any differences in the track volume level! how do i make this work? how can i get all the tracks i've ripped to be at the same volume level?

thanks in advance!

I couldn't find a CD with a low peak level so I normalized a peak level 100% CD to 80% and it worked perfectly. What are your settings for the normalisation and are you ripping the whole cd (i.e. a dj-set) or single tracks?

here's how my settings are:

i don't know what the problem is, but it just doesn't work! could it have something to do with my soundcard maybe?!?

and i've tried to make that cd-text thing work, but no! it just doesn't read it no matter what i try!

thanks for your help btw, i really appreciate it!

I can't help you with the CD-text problem cause I apparently don't have any CDs with the CD-text feature.

The digital ripping and the normalisation would work even if you wouldn't have a soundcard; set it to normalize to 98%, smaller than 95% and greater than 100%. Turn the normalisation on and rip a single track off a cd with a low peak level and do the same thing with normalisation turned off. Listen to the tracks: do you notice any difference?

Also, as you probably know the normalisation will only increase the peak level relatively to the loudest frame of the track which means that the track can't be normalized properly if the track is very loud at some point (i.e. clicks, pops).

no matter how hard i try, i can't find any difference in the normalized and non-normalized versions!

damn! i guess it just won't work then on my computer dunno why though! i wonder if there would be some other program that would raise the volume to the normal level!?!?

thanks for your help again anyway! you seem to be the only one who knows about these things and is willing to help!

ok! now i got a new problem! i'd like to rip one mixcompilation to mp3 and make a .cue file for it too! can i do this with EAC automatically, so that i don't have to make the .cue file by myself or convert a wav to mp3 by myself with some other program? if so, how?

thnx!
