yea i agree with ya, i been member of ta for ever and recently this forum has became drama this drama that. there always seems to be someone who has to flame someone now. its like nyta is turning to be like shitty clubplanet where theres drama in every fucking thread. can we all just get along. i mean jeezus. |
Chris, I couldnt agree with you more. I also have been a member of TA for a long time now, and despite my limited time, I still like to browse through the NY forum just to see the state of music in our city and in this community. But I'd say over the last year, some posts are absolutely worthless, while others turn into a shouting match. Every thread in this forum should be for everyone, and hopefully contributes some information or knowledge about music....Some people may need to realize that quality is more important than quantity when it comes to posting..

IMO, this is because this board (and much of the NYC trance following) is in the hands of a younger and generally underinformed crowd who latched onto an excellent type of music at a time when it had close to no following. They have formed very narrow notions of what trance and trance events should be, with little or no regard for who or what came before them. Now, when someone dares mention something "different" about NYC trance (like the concept of girls actually being on the dancefloor in significant numbers), they freak out, because they have appointed themselves gurus of the scene, and their opinion is not to be questioned (this is not limited to trance, this will usually happen in some form on any bulletin board discussing music).
I certainly don't mean to insult the fine members of TA as a whole, but surely, by skimming through any of the boards, I think the above issue becomes quite evident. Ask any trance fan who has been into the music for over 5 years, and I daresay they would agree.
If the bulletin board, and more importantly trance in NYC is ever to improve, its going to require an attitude adjustment in some of its most zealous followers.
Peace,
Slick

This is exactly what I was talking about - I thought if I worded my post correctly I could avoid this. Did you see what I wrote up there? I'm not "judging the trance knowledge of the whole forum", just speaking about a certain group within the trance community (and they happen to be very large one at that, these "bad apples"). If it came off as too broad, I apologize, as I'm not one to paint people, nevermind my fellow tranceheads, with a broad brush.
Anyways, the people I spoke about in my previous post very much rule this board - their posts and drama are everywhere.
Again, I am a fan of trance, just like everyone else here, and I come here to discuss trance. I wish people would see that instead of jumping the gun and attacking the person instead of their viewpoint.
And tranceeyes, if I had the money, I'd throw my own party in a second. Until that happens, I guess we'll be stuck on this board.
Peace,
Slick
