So you’re coming to Toronto this weekend to promote your new CD release for the Guvernment nightclub, called "All Access Vol.2". You’re the first non-resident DJ to be asked to do a CD for them, having only ever played there once. How does that make you feel?
-It was a great feeling because I like the Guvernment a lot, it’s a great club. To be honest, it’s one of the best clubs I’ve ever played in. It was really a surprise that they asked me.
You’re also featured on the upcoming Gatecrasher CD compilation with Scott Bond, also as a first time non-resident.
-It’s funny, it’s a coincidence- it’s nothing planned. Another thing is my own first real mix album is coming out in February. So that's three new compilations coming out. I've never did a real Marco V compilation.
Will it be released in North America?
-It’s going to be released in other countries, I just don’t know which ones.
What song have you been playing lately that’s been getting the best reaction from a crowd?
-The song that I’ve been playing that makes people jump up into the DJ booth is by Kay D Smith and Marc Tall pres. Passive Resistance called “Praiseworthy Tunes”. It’s not on the Guvernment compilation, but it is on the Gatecrasher compilation. I thought that it would be a bit too hard for the Guvernment.
You’d be surprised- the crowd at the Guvernment likes it hard.
-I only played that track in Holland, Germany & Spain, but I never played it in England. The first time I played it there the eaction was very good. There are records that I play in some countries that I don’t play in others. I made a mistake with that track.
Who are some of your favorite artists?
-Someone I really like is DJ Preach from Montreal. I really, really like him.
Do you follow Tranceaddict.com at all?
-Yeah, I look in now and then, to see what’s going on, or what they think about my tracks.
Are you a member?
-No, I’m not a member. (laughs) I’m really busy now playing and in the studio. I have a quick look, but I don’t post.
What is your favorite thing about touring?
-My favorite thing is playing for different crowds everywhere. It’s also good for my productions. If I have a residency and always play for the same crowd, you know what the crowd likes, and you make a record for them.
What’s the latest DJ or music production equipment that you want for Christmas?
-I just got a new Macintosh G5 computer in the studio, and we’re reconnecting everything in the studio, so I have everything that I want.
Will we be seeing a release of “The Great Escape”?
-A lot of people ask me for it. I was thinking of throwing it away. I have to remix it. The way it is now, I really don’t like it, and I don’t even play it now. The way it comes back after the breakdown, I don’t like it. I have to fix it. I’m going to release it- I don’t know when, I don’t know how.
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?
-One thing I plan to do is to play a little bit more to the crowd. Sometimes I don’t play songs because I think it’s a little too old, too this, too that, but they want to hear some music that they know, not only new stuff. I’m gonna try to do that a little m\bit more.
If you suddenly had to get a real job, what would it be?
-I would be the owner of a coffee shop or a nice restaurant that would be open late night.
Are you a good cook?
-(laughs) No, but a good eater!
You were recently married to your girlfriend of 5 years. Where did you go on your honeymoon?
-We went to Euro Disney.
Were you the only two people there? (joking)
-No we brought our son with us. After a week in Euro Disney, we went (without our son) to Australia.
Well congratulations, and thank you. See you Saturday!
