EXTREMELY clean high bitrate percussion samples..

Do you guy's mostly get your samples for percussion off of random websites such as the ones listed in the 'sticky' or have you guy's got hookups that you download gigs of samples... because i've only been able to obtain a limited amount of percussion samples that have a fare amount of quality... but I cant seem to find anymore..

I hear of people having gigs and gigs of samples... where did you get all of them from?

Internet and Magazines. They're all 16 bit but they're good quality 16bit. You can find heaps of good samples, just don't expect to find them all at once. I might find a good pack every few weeks. The DoruMalaia are good ones though, and most of them are free.

'Clean' percussion is so overrated. Due to the nature of most trance tracks, you wouldn't be able to tell a high quality sample from a low one because everything is mushed together. Now if you're talking about Jazz or something minimalist, then sure you would notice, becuase you're talking about 2-3 percussion instruments, you'd definitely want the best you can get in this scenario, but otherwise don't spend too much of your energy looking for the highest quality samples.

Experiment with arpegiated patterns by playing with ADSR, resonance, cutoff freq, etc. Using my AN1X I was able to take something that sounded like arpegiated string sound and turn it into monster swooshes and beats. You'd be amazed what you can do with little ingenuity. Snap it in sequencer, reverse it and you got a new pattern. Man, I can sit for days on end, just experimenting with various interactions between LFO, Arp, EQ, and filters.

Didn't you fellers discover the hidden rythms when you start to get freaky with tweaking? It's not always easy but you get lucky sometimes.

i agree, this guy knows the score. with percs you will tweak them loads anyways and won't notice unless they are like 80k mp3s
