Cubase SX problem

Ok this is very simple, I just got cubase SX and when i import Midi files I cant see any visual representation of the Midi track on the actual track in the arrange window, Im assuming this is just a basic prefrence setting but I cant seem to find it. Anyone know where i can change that setting?

I am a long time user of Logic and Protools so i figured i would give cubase a try to expand my horizens

just expand the width of your track lane. If you have them thin you don't see anything.

I think the midifile-track ends up at the bottom of your tracklist. Try scrolling all the way down.

Cheers.

You just need to zoom in a bit more to be able to see it. Its the same with audio files in that you cant see the wave if the lane size is too small and/or you are zoomed too far out. Just double click on it to bring it up full screen though.

haha. Ok when you drag and drop midi files onto a track instead of putting the file on the track you drag it to it creates a new midi track for it. Thats kinda annoying!!

thanks guys

If you want to bring in a midi file, go file --> import --> midi file. It will ask you a question about making a new something or other, click no. It will then bring in your midi file on a new channel. You don't have to create a midi channel.

You only "drag" in a midi file if you plan to create one and do everything by mouse. If you want to record a midi file using a keyboard, create a midi file, select the input and the midi controller/keyobard, record enable it, set marker to where you want it to start recording, hit record, press black and white keys, watch notes come in on midi file as you record.
