Durring the Ultra Music Festival, Tiesto & Josh Wink both went down on 2 diferent stages. The common link was they both were using Pioneer Decks.

Price for Ultra $30
Price for Drinks $40
Flight $150
Hotel $300
Watching Josh Wink
Beat the crap out of
the Pioneer deck .... PRICELESS!!

Still, I'd take a Pioneer deck over a Denon one any day. Denon decks have given me so much problems in the past that I don't come near when they're installed in a setup.

Don't forget PvD's infamous skipping disc last year.

I still highly doubt a flaw on the CD could have caused that, because correct me if I'm wrong, the CDJ 1000 loads the whole track into memory, instead of reading it straight off the CD, right? If not, then I don't see why it wouldn't have read over that scratch instead of gradually getting worse and worse.

Oh well, theyre still amazing little things. Maybe its the heat that does it to them? I haven't heard of them having problems like that elsewhere.

Really? What kind of problems? I was thinking about going with Denon because of the features:
Plays MP3 Files
Can Play 2 Tracks from the same CD
Pitch control over vocals without
chaning BPM
Control over BPM

Are there any others that do this? If so, I'd like to know.

It has been improved with their new S series, but with the DN series, I've had skipping problems each time I used them in a large venue (read, loud environment, vibrations). Once a complete dual deck just went out on me. I've played around with the S series, and had no problems yet, but haven't them used in a "hard" environment either.

I'm sort of old fashioned in that way. I don't want loads of features, I just want a deck that performs well (just like the SL1200). Pioneer hasn't given me any problems yet (their suspension systems still are the best up to date if you ask me).

There are enough cd players that play mp3's now. Although I strongly recommend against playing mp3's on a gig (you really hear the crapiness of mp3 on large PA). Well, don't know any other cd players that have alpha track, but surely one of those copycats (Gemini, American Audio, ...) has it already.

And independant pitch and tempo control has been on players for some time now. First that comes to mind is the Tascam CD-302 (that has had some problems in the past too, due to bad firmware updates).
