Scientists investigate brain damage caused by Ecstasy
Sorry, I know this site isn't druGaddict but thought it would be of interest to some..
Spanish researchers have identified a chemical by-product of Ecstasy that is thought to cause some of the brain damage associated with the drug.
The chemical, called 3,4 dihydroxymethamphetamine (HHMA), has already been linked to side effects associated with Ecstasy but until now scientists have been unable to accurately measure the amounts of HHMA in users. By measuring the amount and concentration of the chemical in the body, researchers from the Municipal Institute of Medical Research, in Barcelona, hope to provide new insight into Ecstasys effects in the short and long term.
