Thumbs down Black Hole Recordings is taking necessary actions!!

Dam this sux...

And now some news about the Black Hole Records matter. Today I got a long and insightful email from them explaining what is going on. They will continue searching trough the web for sites containing their copyrighted material and the mail I got earlier was not fake as I mentioned yesterday. They don't mind about mp3's in general and only want you webmasters out there to remove their music from your sites. If you really want to spread material from their artists then put some livesets online as they are not copyrighted!

Shame / Disagreement

The way I look at it, Black Hole Records AREN'T thinking in some areas. Firstly, their sales will drop because if for example no-one did upload any Black-Hole material (highly unlikely) who is going to know what their recordings are like? Tunes like Ralphie B - Massive will be unheard and who's going to buy tracks that they have never heard!

It's stupid trying to kill the MP3's, a lot of people (exlcuding tight-asses) will use the MP3 as a listening preview tool (equivealant of listening to a record in a shop) and then go out and buy the vinyl, because it's well deserved.

Hmmm...such a 50/50 thing though.

if you go to a rave you already payed for the rights of the music that will be played. (the dutch partyorganisators pay that 2 bumra/stemra) also the tv and radio stations have to pay to the rights of the music 2 broadcast them so that they can broadcast it so the music of livesets are copyright protected.

what they are mainly concerned w/ is their albums.. like the magik series and such.. they dont want sites to have them posted up for download. which i agree w/ even though i do download albums. but they are right.. they should not be up.

But also, I know it is widespread international law that you can record what you want from the TV and Radio (What's a VCR for?). I'm not stretching the concept of intellectual property, but there is ZERO difference recording, say 'Dharma + Greg' every week on your VCR than recording 'Van Diespen's Dance Department' every week on an mp3.

[Released albums and singles are completely different, and I agree with Black Hole with taking action against that.]

We have complete right to record and listen to everything broadcasted on the radio [Provided we don't sell it for profit].

i agree that mp3's are a good way of hearing the song, and then going out to buy it. If you are a dj, it is very helpfull, and saves gettin crap vinyls. So it will b a shame

TRANCE MUSIC IN GENERAL WOULDN'T BE AS BIG IAS IT IS NOW, IF IT WEREN'T FOR MP3'S. WHEN WILL THE RECORD LABELS REALIZE THIS? ESPEICALLY HERE IN AMERICA, ALOT OF THESE DJ'S WOULD BE UNKNOWN IF IT WEREN'T FOR MP3'S AND THE INTERNET. THINK ABOUT IT...

hmmmm

If my information is correct Tiesto is part owner
of Black Hole Recordings and that would mean (IMO)
that he has something to do with this letter

Looking at that letter from BHR and then at what
Tiesto said about mp3's and their availability on the net
I would have to say that this whole matter makes him look
like a hypocrite

On the one hand he says this:
Question: What do you think of the about audioformat MP3?
I really like it, because specially in The States and also here in
Sweden it's been good for my name because my CDs are hard to get here.

Question: What do you think when people download your songs illegaly?
Is it bad because you loose royalty money?
Well, I'm not in there for the money. I'm really glad, actually honored, that people download my music. That's a compliment I think.

On the other a letter is sent asking webmasters to remove ALL
BHR content ???

So which is it, Tjis? Make up your mind (and I think we all know
that you are not in it for the money )

and yes, I agree with all of u that albums should not be
available for dload

Sites that regularly post albums are just inviting this sort of thing to happen... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out one out..

I totally agree, with the idea that nearly all my vinyl collection, has become the way it has, is beacuse of the mp3 format. ie if i hear a tune, and try and buy wots wrong wid that, there still getting my money and the end of the day. Its just another tool to get the music across to people, and it should not be stopped.
