Wow. That was amazing. Jon O'bir truly knows awesome trance.

I was a little concerned about what the set might be like after the Godskitchen Global DJ on Sunday night/Monday morning (it was very mellow prog). I asked him about it at the club (before his set) and apparently he was opening for Schultz - so he had to play some deep prog tunes as opposed to blowing the place up with trance anthems. He quickly chriped in that tonight would be different - and yes - it was.

Tonight was AWESOME. Lets bring him back ASAP. Jon O'bir played some phenominal trance tunage. The set was anything but mellow - it was packed with energy!

If you didn't make it out tonight - then you suck (mule juice).

Boo - work @ 9am is going to be hardcore.

...WOW, is all I really can say about the ass kicking of full on glorious trance that I recieved last night at Jon O'Bir. I don't make it out to Toronto to often, but there was a reason I cam to see this kid, and I was not let down. Flawless mixing, AMAZING tines, and a good energy made this a set to be remembered.

Also, it was good to finally meet some of he TOTA crew

Well we were dissapointed with the music by the first two DJs. especially since we were expecting Trance. After all ""this night is here because there is really nowhere to go for trance anywhere really during the week"" (well that still stands after last night) and after all it is a tranceaddict sanctioned party.

Jon obir luckily started getting trancy halfway through his set and then did throw down some really great tunage. his mixing is fucking perfect/ had a decent time/ my friends girlfriend who was driver had to work early so we left around 3-315.

Jon Obir was amazing (lets say its 1:45, and I woke up 30 minutes ago)
It was going along kind of slow, and then he dropped Fallen.
That just fucking kick started the night into high gear and there was no looking back from there on.

Sound Emporium is a nice enough venue, good sound, lots of blinky lights
I would go back for sure.
It was really nice to see some TAs again, becuase Ive been in hibernation so shoutouts to everybody I saw, I wont try naming cuz I will inadvertantly miss somebody who will take offense.

for constructive criticism. Both Goldfinger and Sean Crawford opened too slow for my taste. Being the first 5 people in the club at 20 after 11, I was nearly lulled to sleep by 1:30.
Too much fog. I know it makes the lights show up, but when you cant breath and your eyes are all dry from it, its a bit excessive. Maybe mount it in the roof instead of on the floor?
too freaking loud. Once it got busy, the sound situation fixed itself, but for the entirety of the opening sets, it was overpoweringly loud for the 20 people that were in the club.

With all that criticism, not a single one would affect my returning. Id be back there, but could maybe have a better time if those problems were resolved.

Oh, and how about cheap(er) drinks before midnight? Make an incentive to not show up just last minute. Next time, I might just cut my losses, forget the reduced list, go at 1, have 3 drinks at home, and Ive just saved money that I would have wasted at the club. Drink incentives might draw more people earlier??? maybe??

All in all I give the night 8/10

Hey Everyone!

I had an awesome time at this party. I couldn't believe the amount of people that were in the club on a thursday. Not that I know any of them but still its kind of cool. Nice meeting Avro (a TOTA) and Jon O'Bir.

The music was good and the venue was not bad except the bright lights that kept on blinding me.

To put it simply there is a new face to trance music and his name is Jon O'Bir. This kid rocked the new style of epic goodness, track after track. I found myself wondering why I kept getting surprised (in a good way) by practically the enitire set. Then I quickly realized Jon was playing the majority of his set from unrealeased tracks and cdr's. Any one who says trance has had its day and has become too predictable, I say to them you haven't heard the new wave being played by a few select dj's.
I got to the club at 12 to find the place near empty which was a bit disapointing at first but wasn't going to let it ruin my first night back out in a while. Then again it was a thursday, so I'm not really sure what I was expecting in the first place.

Jon O'Bir came on to the decks at 1:40am and at this point I turned around and was shocked to see a packed club. From here the rest of the night only went straight up hill. I couldn't even spot a few of the mixes due to how well they were put together and melodies had me smiling from the frist track till his last at 4am.
At this point in the night it was time for me to call it a night.
I serious hope that we will be seing a lot more of Jon in the near future. Everyone who wasn't there missed one of the most amazing trance sets of the year.

It was really nice to meet dEsidEL and to get a chance to party Nu Era again. 24/7, it was good to you again too. I hope work went well friday morning.
Thanks T.R. for bringing him over. I had a blast.

I agree 100%. TR is going to continue showcasing the hottest, newest talent on Thursday nights to compliment Turbo Parties' existing regular Thursday night events.

Jon's set was fantastic, over 60% of the tracks played I had never heard before. The mixing was flawless, track selection out of this world, and lets not forget Jon's superb personality. He's a class act and it was definitely our pleasure to have him over here in Toronto.

Lets not forget about TOTA's very own Sean Crawford who layed down a proper opening set for Jon.

It was a great night and big thanks go out to all the TA's that made it out!! Without you, non of what TR does would be possible. Also big thanks to DJ Goldfinger and Turbo Parties for helping make this happen.

Stay tuned for who we have coming next!

Again, big thanks and much respect!

TR

Wow, Jon O'Bir is any aspiring DJ's dream come true. It's amazing to think how new he is to DJing, compared to some others, yet how skilled he is at it. Jon, you certainly derserve all the acclaim.

Thanks to TR for making Thursday fun again

Peace,
Rich
