Mike Koglin joins the Broadcast for the first time! Mike Koglin started
producing after attending audio engineering college in Frankfurt, Germany.
In 1990 he relocated to London where he was inspired by the early UK dance
music scene, and it wasn't long before he started to work with dance legends
such as Boy George and Jeremy Healy. It was in 1998, bitten by the trance
bug that was flooding into the UK that Mike truly found his forte; moving
away from the House sound into the powerful, driven world of Trance. This
soon yielded production gems such as "The Silence" and "On My Way" on
Multiply, and with the success of Mikes clean, polished sound remix offers
soon began to come in. With over 50 remixes in the last 5 years, Mike has
remixed not only dance classics such as Lustral "Everytime"; Dream Catcher
''I Don't Wanna Loose My Way'' and Brainchild "Symmetry C", but also such
big tunes as ''Fine Day'' (Kirsty Hawkshaw from Opus 3) or Dido's "All You
Want ".
In 2003 Mike launched his label NOYS Music which he formed as an outlet for
quality tracks on the harder side of trance. Just into its fourth release
with Koglin & Dewar - Pushed On, this label is already enjoying massive
support from all the big name DJ's such as Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten,
Johan Gielen, Lange, Nick Sentience, Phil Reynolds, Tom Harding, Robert
Smit, Colin Tevendale, Darren Tate, The Dirt Devils, Graham Gold, The
Thrillseekers, and many more. Next month's release will be Koglin's
collaboration with DJ UTO from Tokyo. Their track 'Time' which had a very
limited promo release last year will now get a full release on NOYS
featuring the Original 12" Vocal Mix plus a storming BK Remix for the harder
floors.
Apart from doing tracks under his own name Mike has worked under many
different guises, most recently as 'State One' on Incentive or 'Kota' with
trance master Darren Tate. Their dance anthems 'Waiting' and 'Now Is The
Time' were huge floor fillers last year and were featured on Euphoria
(John'00'Fleming) , Cream 'Future Trance' and Ministry Of Sound 'The Annual'
compilations around the world.
This year Mike is working on various different projects - he is currently in
the studio with Simon Patterson (of Dogzilla fame) producing their
forthcoming track on Mondo Records, and he's busy putting the finishing
touches to his forthcoming releases on Playground Music, AGM Records, Oxyd
Records and Gesture Music. Another Koglin Remix to look out for is his
rework of K90 - 'Axis' , to be released on Dataless Records in May. May will
also see the release of Koglin's collaboration with Jono Grant from
Above&Beyond on AnjunaBeats. Their much hyped track 'Circuits' has so far
been played by Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk and Judge Jules on cdr and the
demand for this deep underground trancer is building up by the hour.
Having had so many years of success producing music for the dance floor Mike
turned his attention onto the decks, and this is presently reaping its
rewards - internationally having played at huge events in Japan, Germany and
Finland, and around the UK with recent outings in London and Cardiff. Mike,
an immensely talented producer and a wizard on the decks should show himself
to be one of the DJ's to watch out for this year.
PQM makes his debut on the Broadcast! Favored among the likes of Deep Dish,
Danny Howells, Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Tenaglia, this New York native
(just call him "Quick") has been influencing the world's underground dance
scene since the early 90's.
It was his ageless classic "The Flying Song" (Ibiza anthem of 2001) that
became one of the most licensed dance tracks of all time. Other notable
productions include "You Are Sleeping", "F**k Sonnet", "I'll Be Your Friend"
and more recently "Nameless" amongst many, many others. Sought after for his
underground yet marketable sound, Quick has been summoned to remix major
label artists such as Sara Mclachlan, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Gloria
Estefan, Faith No More, Celine Dion, Robert Owens and BT, just to name a
few.
While he's known for his progressive house sounds, his roots are in hip-hop.
He earned the name "Quick Mix" as a teenager in the 80's, when first wowing
audiences with his "turntablist" skills. Not straying far from his
background as a block party DJ growing up in Queens NY, he readily
demonstrates those turntable skills with seamless mixing, creative layering
and the clever use of accapella's, which often happen "live" and in the
moment. Like his productions, expect his house sets to be emotional, unique
and undeniable on the dance floor.
He has proved this in recent times in such far flung places as Peru, Costa
Rica, Canada, Greece, China, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia amongst
others. His reputation is growing, as is his global following. One of the
industry's genuine "nice guys" - he is traveling the world on a non-stop
mission to spread the PQM gospel, and his name is becoming synonymous with
house music that is Progressive, Vocal, Deep and Tribal.
