Slamming Kentucky
| quote: | Daniels' Kentucky joke a compliment, he says
March 21, 2004
NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- Kentucky jokes are nothing new, but it's not every day you hear a candidate for Indiana governor tell one.
Republican Mitch Daniels has been picking on Kentucky and other states as he outlines the problems he sees for Indiana.
At a Feb. 2 fund-raising dinner for Monroe County Republicans, The Herald-Times of Bloomington reported that Daniels joked that Louisville is not chosen as the setting for police TV shows because there are no dental records there and all the DNA is the same.
Daniels said Friday it was all in fun, that he was actually complimenting Kentucky by saying Indiana has fallen so far under Democratic leadership that Kentucky jokes aren't funny anymore.
