hi guys my computer has been attacked by the about:blank webpage and no spyware software can get rid of it. my home page is now some phony search engine call about:blank. if anyone knows how to get rid of this problem please let me know.

Just make sure you update the signature DB in both software before you run them.

Look in Add/Rmv Programs for something that looks like it doesn't belong, usually with the word 'search' in the name

Also, if you have WindowsXP go to your START button, go to the RUN command and type, "MSCONFIG".

Click on the last tab that says, "Startup".
These are a list of programs that will load with the OS when you boot up.
Don't recognize something or look suspicious?
*Hint: look at the "command" column to see where the suspicous program is loading from.
Uncheck it and reboot.

hey guys, i tried all your suggestions but alas i still have the same fuckin problem, this stupid thing wont go away, its so fustrating.

You guys are thinking way too advanced for this one... just go to the internet options tab in internet explorer (or whatever browser you use) and manually change your homepage to something else. Unless i'm understanding your problem wrong, is it just your homepage that is effected? or is it all the webpages you are trying to view??

If it IS a program (virus) just go to the task manager and force quit the offending program, then try to manually delete all the files on your comp by searcing for the filename of the prog you quit through the task manager. Delete all the files in the folder containing the virus if they look suspicious (after you quit the program in the taskmanager). That usually does the trick
