Question Newbie buying TT, is Belt-Driven bad? What's the diff.?

I wanna get into DJ'ing but not necessarily get the best there is, 'cause I care about my money and not sure whether I want to do it seriously -- so, I'm thinking of buying TT just to try, and is Belt-Driven worse than Direct-Drive? What's the difference and what would you recommend for an ameteur/beginner?

Shame / Disagreement buy direct drive

the difference between direct drive and belt drive is that a direct drive turntable is "stronger", so when your scratchin or queing, the turntable won't loose that much speed, or in the worst case, fall still, if you hold the record. You can buy some sl1200 clones for half the price or less if you search well. second hand sl1200 are also an option, but finding these for half price when they are in a good condition is hard. Smiley DJ

I learned with one XL-400 and one XL-500
the 4 being belt drive
and the 5 direct.....very low end though

Now that im using Technics I dont want to ever go back......if your thinking of getting some low end tables........get some low end belt drives cuz they have more torque then low end direct drives.....they'll save you some money too
