my Direct Connect story

HOT DAMN!

so i'm downloading along at 200kbps+ from about 6/7 users, and all of a sudden someone starts downloading from me. in a matter of 30 seconds, my download speeds drop down to 56k speeds. that's unacceptable. what do i do? CANCEL/rename/move whatever it takes for this speed drop to not happen again.

what the hell is that! i dont mind sharing my 100+gb of fine trance/movies/techno/vids/sets...but this sheer bs cannot happen again!

the other day, i'm sitting here, happen to glance at dc as it was chugging along. what do i see? some fool downloading my whole hard drive. first go the .sfv, .jpg, .m3u, .nfo, and then the tunes. i figured at top speed, he'd be downloading from me for the next 4 days.

that means 4 days of 56k download speeds for me!!! ughh...
---> unshare / disconnect.

well anyways, had to share this story.

feel free to add your dc story, or flame me, but keep in mind that my download/upload ratio is just about equal.

i have 9 slots open in 3 hubs, and whenever i'm in EssentialSets, ALL 9 are filled with EssentialSets users, with another 9 trying to connect. cos of this i'm never going back to EssentialSets

I remember one time this guy was talking about downloading stuff and then a RIAA spy/Ninja saw the thread and closed all the download programs and fucked it up for everyone else.

i dont get it...

140GB of music (asuming its mp3) = weeks worth of music

i would just find that uterly pointless. half of the stuff you would never get round to listening to.
